THE NEW WORLD ORDER AND THE ROLE NEW AFRIKANS MUST PLAY by Ali Khalid Abdullah Dedicated to the New Afrikan Liberation Collective for Justice $1.00 donation Free to prisoners UNDERSTANDING THE ISSUES OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER Ali Khalid Abdullah Many people in Amerikkka and around the world, as a matter of fact, have heard the term the “New World Order, and from my observa- tion, most people have given litl, if any, real thought or signifi- cance to the phrase. However, the phrase, New World Order, has a definite meaning with global and racial implicaions tied to t. These implications have a great impact on all who are poor, disenfran- chised, people of color and others who are deemed (by those who have power) to be socially expendable. ‘The New World Order is being shaped and, to a large degree, implemented right now for the benefit of the wealthy clite of the world. For the kapitalistic prosperous few! For their benefit, the plan (of those who want to see the realization of the New World Order) is that the world will be run and lives will be controlled by those who dominate the world's resources and its banking, lending and wrading institutions. "The New World Ordér is no different in scope or intent from the dream and plan of Nazi Germany's Adolph Hitler who spoke of developing a pure race of people, a race that ‘would someday dominate and control all other races. The planners and shapers of The New World Order intend to control the socio- political agenda of how life on earth will be for everyone! They will decide who will be "priviledged" and "underprivileged." who will be the "haves" and the "have nots." This New World Order consists of well-placed political/corporate leaders, presidents and heads of state whose aim i to keep the masses enslaved while, at the same time, using them to divide and subdivide them into competing factions for limited allotted financial crumbs... while making it appear that there is an overall economic stability and independence. In other words, they ensure that there are enough wage-slaves and they determine who they are and who they will be in the future. These slaves (of various respective groups) are targeted, manipulated and used to act, think and feel in certain ways; they do the bidding of the manipulators behind the scenes. e corporate sector, with its political stooges fronting as luw -1 makers, has already begun to dominate the global economic scene. ‘What WE must recognize is the fact that the economic control of any group of people leads toa dictation of the policies governing that ‘people. Once any particular labor force is controlled by others, the people (the govemed) in that society are then reduced to subservient positions.” They become fearful because they have been designated foles designed and determined by others. This control is established by first setting up *perimeters,” or boundaries, protecting the posi- tions of those in control. The low-rung perimeter in Amerikkka is the prison sysiem, where people on the "edges" of society are, first, marginalized and, then, thoroughly controlled. The vast build-up of prisons in Amerikkka is a direct indication of what is to come in terms of an eventual control and manipulation of the society as a ‘whole, whereby more and more people will become afraid to stand oract in sclf-determination. All the while, while this marginalization i taking place, lawmakers are constantly "adapting" the laws which continue to become increasingly unjust, draconian and no longer reflective of the people’s rights. We know these changes are taking place all across Amerikkka today simply by observing the unprec- edented record numbers of people thrown into $tate and federal prisons. Why? To reduce the evident overflow of unproductive (or unemployed) labor in the new planned market ~ the New World Order. With the constant downsizing of jobs (1o keep the economy *up") and the growing disparity between the haves and have-nots, prison represents the changing face of Amerikkka aud the reinstitution of slave labor (as it was planned during chattel slavery) in order to gain marginal employment for the millions of people on the streets while those in prison are regulated to working at bottom tier jobs for nothing. Al of this helps create bigger profits for the corporations and their stockholders — which are heavily invested in the prison govemment/industrial complex. As the laws change and become more targeted against those who are. at the absolute bottom of the economic scale, (ic., the New Afrikans, Latinos and Native Americans), it is not hard to understand that there isa direct linkage between the dark faces of Amerikkkan prisons and the laws which have caused their massive incarcerations. New Afrikan people especially must begin (0 look at what is taking place ‘and address these issues from a very serious perspective if we are 10 survive the 215t century. The idea of New Afrikans integrating more people fully into this —2- kapitalist system, which lives not only off of them but off of the plunder of people in third world countries, is unacceptable. Instead, we New Afrikans must try to develop our own economic infrastruc- ture and share and connect with *poor” countries in Afrika and elsewhere to develop mutual economic networks. It serves us and all people of color to advance on the same line of thought, whichis to build our economic forces so that we aren't any longer controlled by the dangling "carrots" of economic equality with those who do not have our interest or livelihood at heart. To this end, we must stop glorifying those few Blacks who have selfishly profitted from this "World Order" kapitalist system and begin to adjust our thinking towands a collective thought rather than towards individualistic, self- serving, materialistic ways of thinking. We must do this so that we can develop ourselves. We can no longer continue to afford to ignore the problems which continue to plague the New Afrikan, Latino and Native American communities — poverty, unemployment, discrimination, drug and alcohol abuse, dis-enfranchisement, and an ever growing number of prisons and prisoners (largely enclosing young men and wimmin who are not white). The New World Order is thriving and WE are losing. We must educate about agitation against all manner of oppression of New Afrikans and all peoples of ‘color, against police brutality, poverty, or al} other actions that prevent us from determining our own destinies as nation of peoples, whether in Amerikkka, Afrika, Brazil, Cuba or the Carib- bean Islands. In order to survive the 21t century and the New World Order, we must begin to acknowledge the civilization WE pioneered and get back on our feet again as a United Family. A family that's been fragmented by slavery and the transplanting of untold millions of peoples. Thus, to defeat any further erosion of who we arc as a people, as humyn beings, we must begin to address the issues which Tam now going to examine. ‘THE ELIMINATION OF RACISM Racism is the vehicle by which all of Afrika, New Afrikans and other peoples of color have been used to gain dominance of the world. Race is principally used to devalue a group of people in order to advance and legitimize *he plunder, rape and the stealing of the land and its resources: historically this has been done by European white people, who have also imposed their culture, social structure and -3- way of life. Racism devalues a people in order to justify the taking, robbing, looting and raping of another people without conscience, so that their psyche s not harmed by acts of aggression and barbarity. Racismis also used to keep labor at a premium while those in economiic control remain in power. In and of itself, racism (the notion that one set of people: i cance atall. But when you apply it to economic advancement it plays amajor role. We must be able to understand that racism is a by-product of kapitalst greed and not of normal thinking. Itis artficial and callous. It is a man-made concept to deprive and immobilize another group of people. We must be clear in our understanding of race and racism in order to defeat the New World ‘Order and its practices. “The concept of “White Skin Privilege” must be fully and totally dismantled and utterly destroyed and this can only be done by those who are White — they must denounce the concept and practice of racismi Those who call themselves "White" ‘must disengage in activities that shun people of color. They must begin to recognize what they are doing independently and collec- tively to sustain this prevailing myth of superiority. To sustain the ‘concept and the practice of racism. They must demand that all racial preferences are hereby and forever abandoned. At the same time, New Afrikans and other peoples of color have an absolute obligation 10 sc¢ 10it that racism s stopped by any and all means necessary. ‘We must develop Black Agendas, Native American Agenda and Latino Agendas that will not be watered down or ignored, as so many such agendas have been in the past. ‘There must be an absolute demand (with action if need be) that all fabrics oflife in and outside of Amerikkka change in order (o fully reflect the representation of ALL PEOPLES and not merely a section or segment of people. That means all schools must provide fair and equal education. This education must not merely stress European culture but all people's cultures and history books muist be rewritten 10 reflect the true accounts of world history and traditions. The educational system must be open 10 all and not just to those who come from higher income families — because this is racism in and of itself, We must demand and see 10 it that no child goes without leaming how to properly read and write. That no child is deprived of the knowledge of new technologies. If white people are going o join in his fight for actual and real justice for all, the they can not hypocritically live in all white neighborhoods and send their children to schools where there are no faces of color. This in and of itself is _4- racismin practice, in spite of protests to the contrary. There has (o be an absolute demand that all media ~ television, movies, magazines, theatre and other forms of communication ~ reflect the wide spectrum of people and don't represent people of color in merely marginal ways. That is racism and anyone who tolerates this is condoning racism in spite of what they say. Racism ‘must be dismantled. And then there is also the question of whites accepting the roles their ancestors played in the enslavement of untold millions of Afrikan people. For it is from their ancestors that they are able to profit and live lives of relative ease today, because. kapitalism and all of its investments were built up off the backs of slave labor. AFRIKAN/NEW AFRIKAN BLACK DIASPORA It should be a well-settled fact that all New Afrikan/Black person of the Diaspora have the right of repatriation, the right to retur and settle in the original homeland which is Afrika. They should be allowed to settl in any Afikan country they desire fo live in and any Afrikan govermment should be inspired and encouraged to ‘accept and help any New Afrikan Black man or womyn who might 50 desire and choose 1o do 30 to come to Afrika to live from any country of residence. Al New Afrikan/Black persons in the Diaspora have rights of citizenship in any Afrikan country of their respective choosing because they are originally citizens of this continent and NO Afiikan/New Afrikan Black person in Amerikkka has ever agreed to be acitizen of this or any other country, but was forced and DE- CLARED a citizen of Amerikkka (and other countries) when we were shipped by slave ships. All Afrikans should have the right, if desired, of dual citizenship in both Afrika and Amerikkka. Within the Afrikan/New Afrikan Black Diaspora there exists a large reservoir of raw talent of skilled men and wimmin ready to be tapped and used to develop Afrika. Our brothas and sistahs in Afrika need to take ull advantage of this potential power instead of depending on or running to whites who, for the most part, only wish 1o further exploit and dominate for their own kapitalist gain. New Afrikans/Blacks in the Diaspora should organize a strong and —5- aggressive push 1o support Afrika and lend our expertisc and knowl- edge (0 help our brothas and sistahs there develop the land and resources available so that Afrika is independent, thus making us all (who are descendants of Afrika) independent and resourceful. And there is the need to develop a comprehensive campaign for political prisoners of the Diaspora, who have been incarcerated for ‘years or who are incarcerated now, to be exiled (if they so choose ) 1o any Afrikan nation that will allow them to come there and live the rest of their lives there rather than inside U.S. or European prisons around the world. These polifical prisoners should not be limited to only those who were politically active before coming to prison. but should include those who have been politicized and have changed themselves since being in prison and who are engaged in active struggle and, because of their activist struggles, are being persecuted vital and necessary if we are o defeat the plans of Amerikkka's and Europe's New World Order project. DEVELOPING OUR ECONOMIC STRUCTURE New Afrikans in Amerikkka must come Lo terms with our economic power and realize that as a nation of people we are actually more powesful in terms of Gross National Product (GNP) than many Third World Countries. We have the ability to change and shape our lives and the lives of our children in the future if we come (o terms with utilizing our GNP productivity rather than spending all our money and not producing anything o help us sustain economic parity. We must develop plans and strategies o build our infrastructure and also work with our brothas and sistahs in Afrika so that we can build and develop a global financial network whereby our cconomic power can deliver us the political clout we need, rather than live in poverty and indebled to European couniries who use our indebtedness to keep us in perpetual economic slavery and dependence. We must also scrutinize the type of leaders we choose Lo represent us and our interests so that we aren't sold out or ripped off as a people Our dealings with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank should cease to be, for these are nothing more than financial dictators and tyrants who have sured that all of Afrika and other Black nations stay and remain impoverished to Europeans and the Kapitalist sector. We should not allow the IMF and the World —6- Bank to continue their normal operations. We should doall we can 10 destabilize them. New Afrikans in Amerikkka must also stand against these financial controllers, for we too are weighted down by their extraordinary power. All Black governments the world over and all peoples of color, in addition, (as the Pan-African Congress pointed out in their 1992 agenda), should develop and establish a "Global Afrikan World Bank (GAWB)" and a "Global Afrikan Monetary Fund (GAMPF)" to monitor all funds received from reparations, contributions from Black countries and displaced Black populations. This is one of the ways we can disrupt and dismantle the flow of the New World Order's agenda. An agenda that does not include anything for the Afrikan/New Afrikan Blacks of the world but oppression, repression, imprisonment and economic slavery and dependency. 1am placing much emphasis on the fact that New Afrikans must be: tied and connected to Afrika economically because unless we develop along with Afrika we will allow kapitalism and those in economic power to find their way to continuing the oppression of Afrika and all of the Black Diaspora. Therefore, the connection (o Afrika, the continent that has the world's resourges in ts belly, must be protected and we as New Afikans have a duty to see 1ot that Afrika is protected. No kapitalist or imperialist country can operate without Afrika. ‘This is an historical fact. To maintain its kapital monopoly, Europe and all of the kapitalist/imperialist countries must move on Afrika. The New World Order cannot even exist without Afika. This is an economic fact! Further, all Black leaders and governments ought (0 stop accepting any foreign aid and loans that are designed for the destruction of Afrikan cconomies because it is impossible to meet the interest rates and/or other conditions made for aid and loans. The same applies to New Afrikans, Latinos and other peoples of color here in Amerikkka and wherever else we reside. This will have a dramatic effect on the kapitalist system and the plans being implemented for the New World Order. Another effective way to defeat and dismantle the economic stranglehold on the Afrikan/New Afrikan Black nation of people is 1o Buy Black. We must support and shop at Black owned busi- nesses, today and tomorrow and everyday, We must deliberately seek out Black individuals and companies all over the world to establish a network of commercial and business contacts, and buy _7- and sell goods and services to one another as the Europeans do for themselves. This is the only sure way to develop economic power. ‘We ought to and must repudiate foreign debts. We must come together, as the Pan-Afrikan Congress suggested in their address in 1992, form a *debtors'cartel” to resist further servicing of bad and doubful international debts while putting all theoretical "interests" into Black nations' infrastructures. Why should we, the masses of Black people, who did not benefit from these dubious loans be forced to pay twice because of imposed extended long term debts? ‘We shouldnt, and each time we pay we are largely paying not on the deb self but on the interest of that debt, thus forever keeping the black nations imprisoned financially. This must stop! ‘We must be more assertive and creative in our various lines of business and commerce deaings. - All our business dealings should be structured around the best of humyn ethics, morality, values, collective responsibilties and professionalism to insure that we as a nation of Afrikan/New Afrikan peoples not be tied down to any form of economic slavery. This too will break the back of the New World Order and the European nations' never-ending quest to bleed dry the dork nations of the world and keep us impoverished. THE NEED FOR REPARATIONS All New Afrikan/Black people between Afrika and the Western Hemisphere are owed by the colonial powers and the U.S. for Kolonialism, neo-kolonialism, slavery and the genocide of Afrikan ‘people, including spiritual, emotional and psychological suffering known as the Maafa. Since ita is a fact that Afrikan free labor built the wealth of the developed European world, half of the gross wealth of the kolonial powers and the U. $. should be transferred from them to the Black world in compensation for general and special damages for the wrongs done to Afrikans and New Afrikan people the world over. We deserve this. This is only right since other peoples, i.c.. Japanese Americans and those who call themselves Jews, and to a smaller degree Native Americans, have received some form of ‘compensation for the injustices done to them. "Reparations" is not a disgracing word nor an act of welfare or charity. Itis a right and duty owed to a people who havae suffered the worst in humyn conditions, without question or doub. For there has never heen a people who have lost as much, suffered as much as Afrikans and New Afrikans and other Blacks throughout the world. We must -8- vemember that we have been the ones to have not only been forced from our original homeland (Afrika), but also to have lost our names, culture, language, and religious practices and belicfs. No other people have suffered tahe ill-effects of having entire ilies sold off and uprooted to the extent that their knowledge of their origins is so destroyed that it is all but impossible to trace family ties and roots. ‘This is what reparations OWE us - anyone who suggests that reparations aren't needed or shouldn't be paid is not only a fool but a blind fool and a supporter of continual racism. For it is precisely because of racism that the Turopean nations and the U.S. refuse to pay us reparations. We must come together with a comprehensive plan of action to keep our demands in the minds of people all over the world. Thus, we need to focus on developing and coordinating for the entire Bluck world a media blitz that will continuously draw attention to our call for reparations until we obtzin and achicve. our demands. We should use our economic power and resources 10 bring the apitalists to their knees. Our Latino, Native Ameri- can and other peoples of color around the world have direct and indirect iaterest in seeing that Afrikans and New Afrikans obtain reparations. How beter to defeat the New World Order than to demand and keep our demands real by forcing the issue of reparations until we obiain them! Our call for reparations is also tied to the urgent need o insure that all of the people in Afrika, Amerikkka, and other nations where Blackness presides are fed. No man, womyn or child should go hungry. Our elderly must have the proper health care and nutrition needed to sustain their lives in a respectful manner. ‘We need to demand ot :parations and then use our money to develop programs and inifiatives to feeding ourselves. We must eradicate and combat hunger through the elimination of wars which are used as weapons to starve a people into kapitalist/ imperialist submission. For example, we need only look at Amerikkka's use of economic sanctions to deny food, medicine and other humyn necessitis to part of Afrika, Cuba, Irag, the Sudan, Afghanistan, Iran, Libya and elsewhere. These economic sanctions are unholy attempts to create massive suffering and genocide on a whole group of people so that kapitalistimperial- it interests will be obtained. We have a duty to prevent these goals from occurring. As brotha Abdul Olugbala Shakur noted 90— in his pamphiet Poverty, Crime and Government, "Many tactics of MM_JWLW\W_WEM ture a successful illusion of freedom... (and] our ancestors' strong. desire to be free from slavery [in Amerikkka] has also left them vulnerable to further explojtation." (underlining mine) When we: take this into sccount, we must recognize the fact that under the illusion of freedom we did not challenge the advantages of economic advancement made off the backs of our labor. Thus, we accepted a false notion of freedom and were thrust into being "hereby Citizens of the United States” without ever petitioning (0 be citizens. This, in and of itself, was a tactic used to deny all rightful compensation to the millions of Afrikan slaves so-called emancipated in the U.S. This same economical trick was used in other Afrikan and Black nations around the world. We have an obligation to fight for our rights. An obligation to demand that al that we have rightfully coming to us from this and all ‘govemments which have denied and deprived us as a Nation of ‘people, as descendants of Afrika, and as ex-slaves still denied respect and honor throughout the world. This we must demand and struggle forf there is ever going to be real harmony in the world. But the New Afrikan/Black nations of the world must be ready to confront the serious and hard issues and not be cowed down with fear. Comrad Abdul Olugbala Shakur made it very plain in his pamphlet, Poverty, Crime and Government, under the subheading ‘The eliber- ate Application of Poverty,' that ... it is the citizens who are endur-. ing 95% of the suffering and the Amerikkkan government is quite: aware of this." Not only is the Amerikkkan government aware of this, WE SHOULD BE AWARE OF IT AS A PEOPLE! Once we are aware of the way we have been dealt with economically, then we ‘would not be so happy under this kapitalist/materialist system and we would seck to develop ancther beter system. Nor would we be 50 gracious as to thnk that being FORCED into Amerikikan citizen- ship was a blessing coming up out of slavery because it wasn't. It was a rouse when the Amerikkkan government created the 14th amendment and it has been a shameful rouse ever since its enact- ment, as we can see by the way New Afrikans have fought at every tum to be treated s citizens only to have inequality in every aspect of their lives. The new Afrikan Declaration of Independence says in part: "We claim no rights from the United $tates of Amerikkka other than those rights belonging to human beings anywhere in the world, and these include the right to damages, reparations due us, for the —10- arievous injuries sustained by our ancestors and ourselves by reason of United States lawlessness." The demand for reparations is only a natural and rightful thing and can't be denied by any class, culture or race of people when the facts are as they are in terms of how Afrikans were and stll are treated and what we have done to contribute to this world's economy. Our white comrads, friends and supporters must also stand firm to insure: that justice prevails, for they have gained many advantages from this inequality. 1 recognize that there arc whites who are cconomically oppressed and poor, but even so, their ability to obiain and to climb up the economic ladder is much greater and they have avenues open 0 them that New Afrikans and Black Nation's people don't. Further, our white comrads, friends and supporters, who would stand and oppose reparations for New Afrikans and the Black Nation, can not truthfully claim or say that they empathize, sympathize or stand with us UNTIL they do their part to see that faimess prevails, and the only way they can do this is to begin attacking the basic foundation and principles of racism, which is the major component for reparations not being given. 1t's just that plain and simple. NEW AFRIKANS DOING FOR SELF AND COMMUNITY ‘The New. Afarikan/Black Nation's leaders have an obligation to their people. An obligation that will help us become self-sufficient, economically strong, politically acknowledged and safe from being taken advantage of. An obligation to make their people viable in the 21t centuy. if our leadership fails us, then we will only suffe greatly under the plans of those implementing the New World Order. New Afrikan farmers must be granted agricultural equality, and, in fact, must not have their lands and properties taken by this govern- ‘ment due to their being unable to pay debts too enormous to pay off. Debis artificially created to make possible the theft of the land. We ‘must fight (0 save our Black farms. In understanding this, there must be a partnership developed between New Afrikans in Amerikkka and Blacks globally to support and work with one another, to share ideas and technologies so that we can develop our economic/agricultural skills, .¢., improving farming methods and establishing mutual research programs with al the historically Black US. colleges and universities which have agricultural departments and with other Black nations which have similar programs and research capabilities. - New Afrikan/Black youth should be encouraged to develop skills in gardening and agriculture just as vigorously as they are encouraged 0 piay basketball, footbali and other games. The process of this training should begin at an early age and the idea of farming should not be viewed in a negative light but s a tribute and anhonor. A people who can'tfeed and support each other is a people who can't survive and are slaves to those who feed them. [NOTE: The So- journer Farm School, headed under Dr. Dorothy B. Farden, is an example of an attempt to develop New Afrikan youth with the knowledge of leaning about farming and agricultural skills in general. To contact the Sojourner Truth Farm School and Dr. Dorothy B. Farden, see address listed in this pamphlet.] Current health care needs of New Afrikans/Blacks, (i.e., physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual), are not being met. We must be able to meet the challenge of these badly needed services and ensure that our people are medically treated. We cannot allow others o be truly concemed about our well-being if we are not going to be concerned ourselves. The current trend regarding the propagation of the New World Order has already scen (in the later part of the 20th century) claims made about Blacks as being genetically inferior and intellectually unequal to whites. ‘This was made evident when the book The Bell Curve came out to support a racist myth of Black inferiority, a myth measured by the warped psychology of Europeans ‘who have an agenda to reduce New Afrikans/Blacks to the position of sub-human and thus incapable of being seen as equals. Such thinking will only sid those who have dubious plans for this New World Order regime to not only dominate the world but see to i that the minds of non-Blacks acoept whatever diabolical racial schemes are being laid out regarding the Afrikan/New Afrikan/Black world. ‘Thus, it is ever more important and imperative that Black people develop themselves in areas of psychology that are based not on European thought but on the thought of New Afrikans. The same applies regarding all forms of health issues. WE must learn to DO FOR SELF and DEVELOP SELF if we are to advance ourselves as a people and grow as a people. Our religious leaders must be true religious leaders and not pimps and predators upon the people (a very spiritual people who have nothing left but our spirituality with which to endure another day's hell). The spiritual application must be real and it must be taught truly and without tricks and games. We must learn our spirituality -2 and not ailow it (o enslave us or have us depending on some Spook god to rain justice down upon us. We must advance true spiritual awakening and that means our religious Icaders should not View their congregations as means (0 gain cconomic success but as ways to change our poor state of low self-esteem and rise above our spiritual deficiencies. Once this happens, our thinking will change and our atitude about one another will change and thus the Black-on- Black crime and murder rates will cease to be at an all time high. “The New Afrikan community has a serious issue with drugs and alcohol, a problem that must be eradicated and stopped if we are to advance healthiness in our communities and end the blood-stains of the outside influences of drug trade. However, the fact remains that we have a serious problem with drugs and alcohol which aren't being addressed adequately. Further, it is a well-known fact that liquor Stores are strategically placed in the New Afrikan communitics at an extent that would never be accepted or tolerated in white communi- ties. These liquor stores are not owned by New Afrikan/Black people, and that in itself is a strong statement. It is also an indictment against those who do not have New Afrikan people's healt and lives in their interests. They are making millions off the humyn misery of those who purchase alcoholic beverages and drugs in order to find some type of psychological relief from their rabid daiy lives ina racist society, never able (o live their lives cleanly without having to consider their skin color when walking down the street, driving a car orlooking for work. Nevertheless, this does not excuse the New Afrikan community from being responsible beings or taking respon- sible action. We have a responsibility, a respousibility 1o change our thinking and to remain free from substances that will deterioraie our thinking, our lives and our communities. We must force our cleced Black leaders to cffectively deal with the drug/alcohol problem and our communitics must demand that change takes place. For starters, we can siop spending our moncy where the interests of New Afrikans are not taken to heart. If we refuse to spend any money at liquor stores, for example, this would send a message. If we develop aggressive community watches and stop the drug dealers from pushing their drugs in our communities and, if we mean it, we will see change. But as things stand now, nothing will change and the government fully well knows this. They aren't really rying to stop drugs because that would take billions of dollars away from the. federal, state and local government agencies. It would also slow down the exponential growth of Amerikkka's prison industrial 13- ‘complex which feeds off the drug and alcohol business and the convictions which result from partaking in these drugs. ‘We must come to the realization that alcohol is also a drug which devastates Afikan people far more than all other illegal and pre- scription drug use combined. We must begin (o examine the correfu- tion between the under-development of our communities in relation 10 alcohol abuse, by the educated and the uneducated, the wealthy and the poor, and by the law abiding citizen and the criminal. We ‘cannot blame our irresponsible action on whites when it comes 1o using and partaking in self-destructive behavior. No one makes us use drugs o alcohol. That s a personal choice we make. A choice ‘we must begin to stop making and, instead, choose to act collectively 10 see toit that we move away from self-destructive behavior so that we can begin to meet the chailenges of the 215t century. EDUCATION! EDUCATION! EDUCATION! There is a powerful need to develop an educational system that is based on truth, equality and faimess for all. This need for education is vital for the New Afrikan communities and the Black Nations globally. It s through education that we will obtain fiberty and real justice. For centuries New Afrikans in Amerikkka and Blacks in the Western Hemisphere have been poorly educated or, better stated, ‘mis-educated — so that inequality and white supremacy remain intact. For New Afrikans and all Blacks, education worldwide should be rooted in the Afrikan-centered paradigm and its curricula throughout the Black world must reflect this, regardless of European or other languages spoken. This should be a priority and such education should be available worldwide. These are some of the ideas and concepts we ought to be thinking about and we ought to be develop- ing ties with our Black leaders to be championing this educational agenda,in arcas of history, cultural perspectives, social responsibility and spirituality. We should also encourage the development of independent schools within the New Afrikan/Black communities as a way of attacking the current llteracy and high dropout rates. Justas white schools teach French, Spanish, German, Arabic and otfler languages, there should be:a DEMAND that languages are taught to our children so they will have knowledge of the languages spoken in Afrika. This is impor- tantif we are going to reach back to Afrika and work with our 14— Afrikan brothas and sistahs. These are ties that must be met by us, just as whites have continued to be knowledgeable of the languages of their ancestors. If we can't communicate with our people, we can't save ourselves or work hand in hand with our people abroad. If we can not work with our people abroad, then surely we as a people are doomed. CCLOSING NOTE Itis important for me that my people and the entire Black Nation prepare ourselves for the 215t century and not take what is approach- ing for granted. Change these days is rapid and, if history is a guide, change for the betterment of anyone who has been the subject of concentrated abuse and oppression does not come easily. The power of the New World Order is real and its current and potential conse- quences serious. This New World Order will not only affect Blacks adversely but all those who oppose apitalism. But it will hurt the Afrikan/New Afrikan Black nations and all Black people more, which is the reason why this pamphlet was written. blica Political Prisoners of War Coalition © PPWC publications "Always be capable of feeling... any injustice committed against anyone, anywhere in the world."
